(COLUMBIA): Columbia’s boys varsity soccer team put a stamp on the regular season Thursday night as Denmark-Olar made the 50 mile trip to Columbia.
Columbia scored early and often. Sophomore Joshua Nduwayo opened the scoring in the third minute and David Issa quickly scored his first half brace within the first 11 minutes. The first half ended after four more Capital goals. Raul Wisdom, Green Htoo, and Alonzo Reid all added goals before the break. It was Htoo’s first goal of his senior season and fourth of his career. After the first 40 minutes, Columbia led 7-0.
The second half would see the game slow down as Columbia looked to keep possession and connect passes in their initial build-up phase. The Capitals would add three goals late in the second half to finish out the night. Tha Man Kyar scored in the 62nd minute to extend the lead to eight. Freshman Aung Khaing scored his first career goal and Ndjila Bernard finished the scoring in the 68th minute, his eighth goal of the season.
The Capitals will compete in the 2021 SCHSL AA Playoffs next Tuesday.
