(COLUMBIA): The Varsity Boys Soccer team looked to make it four region wins in a row and extend their winning streak over district rival Eau Claire.
It wouldn’t take Columbia long to open the scoring on Friday night. Just four minutes in, Columbia’s Alonzo Reid unlocked the Shamrock defense in route to his ninth goal of the season. The Capitals never looked back. David Issa scored in the 11th minute and Joshua Nduwayo would add to the lead just three minutes later. Nduwayo’s goal came after senior Diamond Sun went on a marauding run and skipped past two Eau Claire defenders before finding Nduwayo just inside the Shamrock penalty area. The Capitals would add to their tally as Tha Man Kyar headed home a corner from Issa. Raul Wisdom, Nduwayo, and Issa would all add to the lead before the break. Columbia 7, Eau Claire 0 at halftime.
Columbia didn’t skip a beat after halftime. It would only take two minutes for Wisdom to find the back of the net for the second time and Issa would complete his hat-trick a minute later. Junior Pah Dah would extend the lead to 10 in the 47th minute. Senior Diamond Sun would get his second goal of the season in the 61st minute. Finally Reid, who opened the scoring, would also finish the night in the 68th minute.
Columbia’s win over Eau Claire, along with the other region results, locked up the number two seed out of Region III — AA.
Columbia will conclude the regular season when Denmark-Olar visits the Capital City on April 29th. Kickoff set for 5:30pm.
